This pattern comes from my favorite Japanese bag book (which I’ll blog about anon). It’s made from a too-big pair of pink linen pants and a too-small cotton shirt. The strap is the drawstring from the pants.

I interfaced the whole thing with a very lightweight interfacing–just enough to help it keep it’s shape without making it stiff. I’m very pleased with how it turned out and as there’s quite a bit of the pants and shirt left I plan on making at least one more. Unfortunately I’ll have to make the strap next time since I used the drawstring for this one.

Although weight watchers would possibly be the best place for our little lamb to follow Mary, we’ve decided we like his fat, cuddly . . . and bouncy look.
His body is waffle weave cotton and his face and feet are wool felt. When I do him over I think the legs will be thinner so he’ll stand up straighter–and I want to try the body in chenille. And I’d still like to add some sort of woolly topper on his head. All in all I’m pleased.

That’s the title of a Japanese sewing book I recently picked up from Kinokuniya in Seattle.
It’s a tasty book with 60 little items to sew up. My favourite among them being this one.
Don’t the little bird pouches help the whole book live up to its name? They sure make me feel cozy. My Japanese friend Masumi who came over to help me out with some translation cooed over the whole book. Hopefully a completed bird purse of my own will be up on the blog soon.

Fairly uneventful today, although I did nab some cute green stripey fabric. What it will be fore remains to be seen. I also scooped up a fabulous wool scarf in a cheerful stripe patter that’s double wide, it’s to be relegated or a baby hat/mitten set from one of my project books. Off it goes into the to-be-felted-wool pile.
I also got a stack of new wooden shelf dividers. Martha had this lovely idea of using shelf dividers on the top of shelves to separate things nice and tidy. We’re re-doing our bathroom and this idea keeps showing up in my fantasies.

I managed to nab myself one of Hillary’s adorable put-together books and have been feverishly turning out the little creatures as gifts ever since. They really are wildly popular and the pattern is quick and easy. Here’s one I made a bit ago (I really prefer the bunny but only have a photo of the kitty.
Both body and dress are flannel, and decorations and loafers are wool felt. And here’s a closeup, minus my fabulicious little son.
Have I mentioned that I’m totally in love with Wee Wonderfuls? It’s really Hillary’s fault that this blog is here in the first place–she inspired me to get a sewing machine and dive back into the sewing world after a dull hiatus.

So I’ve caught the crafting bug. Piles of fabric, jars of buttons, a lovely new sewing machine, stacks of thrifted clothes and linens, and my very own sewing corner. So what was I missing? A blog, apparently. So I got myself one. And hopefully someday I’ll turn into a crafting fairy dishing out inspiration with the magic wand just like those inspiring fairy godmother crafters who gave me the bug in the first place.
